I am making crayon roll-ups for my son and his friends.
I LOVE all of these ideas, I did find this morning a pattern of paper piecing a Coffee Pot and Coffee cups, I thought of making these into 6.1/4 inch squares for either mug rugs or pot holders. Either way I think they'll be easy enough but want to try some of these other ideas as well. Thanks to ALL!! |

I have a very limited gift list. The grands and foster children are getting quilts. For family and friends, gifts are generally homemade. Except for one, all were done by August.
We have given to the local food drive. DH had the great idea to sponsor a "clean and struggling" family to a meal at a local restaurant this year, where the owner will make a fuss over the kids. We are not wealthy by any means, but we had times in the past living on the very edge, so we feel this is important. As a teen, DH put in long hours working for a landlord to keep a roof over the family's head when HIS family could not pay the rent. In our shaky economic times, these gifts are much more important than the table runners and placemats to kin. |

I'll admit, I 'borrow' ideas from etsy from time-to-time (for my personal use). I got the idea for a car wallet for my son from there. I didn't want to pay $10+ for one, so I looked at a few pics, got some fabric I thought he'd like, and made it myself (with a lot left over).

Everybody on my list is getting oven mitts and hot mats for the table.
|
Table runners, eye glass cases, lap quilt.
|
I've made 2 Spicy Spiral table toppers, 2 of the MSQC tree table runners, a sampler table runner, a large lap "thinking outside the block" quilt & matching pillowcase for my DGS, 4 fabric bowls (only 6 more to go), 12 comfort wraps for an assisted living facility (with much help from my cousin, niece, & most especially, my DSIL). I did the quilting on all 12, DSIL did all of the binding. I still want to make a Swirling Stars - Card Trick table topper & also, a tree skirt out of the same pattern for the living room.

I am not making any gifts this year.
