I keep getting ads in my emails for a zentangle tool. I looked in search and then tried to find tutorials here on these things, but couldnt find anything. The ads say how great the tool is, but dont really explain what they are, or how to use them or anything, youre just supposed to buy them and get all the info I guess. Has anyone here ever used zentangles, and what exactly are they and what are you supposed to be able to do w/ them? Thanks for any enlightenment! share t

Me? I like looking at the Zentangle creations of others more than I do drawing them myself. Which is the exact opposite of how I feel about quilts. Weird.

When I was a kid, I loved these kits that came with intricate pictures and felts for colouring. Zentangles remind me of those.

ok, I love to doodle and draw, but it looks as if youre drawing on fabric? I guess there are batiks that could work into these kind of quilts, duh! I never think of googling things! the word "tool" means a system for designing and not a bunch of rulers, pencils etc.
Zentangle is much like "McTavishing" that Karen McTavishing is doing on the long arm. It is a system for designing primarily background designs for machine or hand quilting. Primarily machine. The technique is beginning to turn up in quilt shops in my area as the Zentangle headquarters is very near here. They have retreats. While it is interesting and I have thought about it, it would require another system to learn and then figure out what to do with what I have learned. Long arm quilters are begininning to use it.

I love this show! I forgot to look up zentangle the other day, neat stuff. I've been doing this for years, that's totally how I doodle. Came in real handy for a henna-ish design I drew on my hand for Halloween one year.

i have been a 'zen-tangler' for many years...i do not know what 'tool' you could possibly be referring to...all it takes to zentangle is a pencil, a micron pigma pen and a piece of high quality cotton paper...the people who go through the zentangle.com web site and purchase supplies use 3 1/2" square tiles of cotton paper. but that is all that is needed. a piece of paper, a pencil and a pen...

I delete the ads, but I dont think they went to an actual zentangle site, I think someone was using that term and selling a triangle or piece of plastic, I think, but then, I got everythiing all mixed up! lol, share t
