Since Walmart is dissing all us quilters by closing their fabric departments, I tried another route. I saw that J and O Fabrics appeared to be the main fabric distributor of fabrics for Walmart. I looked around their website for some flannel that I am trying to replace. Didn't find it. I emailed them and within minutes I had a response. Still trying to find the flannel that I want BUT wanted to pass on that they are being very helpful.

Not only are we quilters losing out with the closing of the fabric dept. but so are the fabric companies and fabric mills. This may be a way to still buy fabric at reasonable prices, especially for those who can't always spend big $$$ for fabric.

Is there a link there for Wal-mart priced fabrics? Everything I saw there was more expensive than LQS. Am I missing something?

I have found that Connecting Threads, Keepsake Quilting, Marshall Dry Goods and Blue Bamboo have reasonably priced fabrics and some great sales. The fabric is all LQS quality.

I've ordered from J&O before and always had great service. They're helpful and fast.

I think that Walmart often bargains with companies, to get lower prices for their stores. Maybe that is the case here?

I think the massive volume that walmart would buy would have an effect on the price also.
