Problems with threads with Janome 6300
Hi all,
I have a Janome 6300, which I really love a lot. It is a real workhorse of a machine and simple to use. My one issue is that I keep breaking or shredding the thread. The tension is on about a 4, and I use pretty good threads: usually the Coats and Clark Quilting thread, or All Purpose, sometimes the Gutenberg thread. Does anyone have this machine and can recommend what kind of threads work best? Thanks!! I find this so frustrating, to be sewing along, and then see that I haven't sewn a darn thing in 12 inches!
Thanks much,
Nancy

I have a Janome and had the same problem years ago. I find that if I don't thread through the very last vise near the needle....just disregard it.....I don't have any thread breaking problems. I also don't have any tension problems when I by-pass it.

If this is just happening now, has something changed? Are you using a denser fabric? Sometimes thread will shred and break if you're using a smaller (80/12) needle on dense fabric that needs a (90/14) or even a (100/16) . you might also just have a bad spool of thread - it happens- try a different spool before you give up.

my guess is that you need a different needle.
could be that the one you are using is worn out, the wrong size, or the wrong type.
