Since I lost my job May 2009 and then was underemployed for 10 months until Aug 2010 when I got a good job back, I've been trying to cut back on spending. I'm proud of myself for spending hardly anything on fabric for the last 1.5 years. I have still bought some things (Tonga Treats - my big weakness) but compared with how I was spending, I've been great. And the last 11 days, my LQS has been running a 12 Days of Xmas sale where every AM they email us about a new item that is on special that day only. There was the B&W fabric, batik day, notions, marking tools, etc. And I haven't bought anything so far. Only 1 day left! Very proud of my self control

Congrats on getting a job...I was in the same boat...12 months unemployed...first time in my life...or since I was 15...I went back to work in May, same company...I did not start quilting until sept...now I am hooked, so glad I have a job...I will have a nice stash when we are let go again...they are closing down the business unit I am in next year...so we all know its coming.

Good for you. New sense of priorities.

I know from how it hit us and how hard it is, that if things pick up again, I will not spend the way I did. I don't miss it either. I LOVE fabric, but it doesn't pay the bills or buy the groceries.
