Default Batting for microwave bowl potholder

I'm sure this has been discussed in the past, but I
just found this free pattern & want to make one -
will cotton batting be OK or do I have to buy
special batting? Fabric will be 100% cotton as
will the thread, I know that much

I have made them using regular cotton batting. Most tutorials on the web recommend Warm and Natural. Only warning I have seen is to not heat them for more than 2 minutes at a time.

I used Pellon's Wrap and Zap which comes in 1 yd. by 45 inch wide package. I found it at Joann's and used a coupon. Occasionally they have a 50%off batting sale.

I use Warm and Natural. My microwave will bring a cup of water to boiling under 2 min. so soup and such is never heated for much over 2 min.

You should try and get the 100% cotton batting. Warm & Natural & Warm & White both have a scrim of polyester that could alight. I scorched a 100% cotton towel that I had embroidered with a very small motif using poly thread. If it have been in the microwave any longer it would have started on fire.

We all need to pass on this information to our friends if they are gifts or to customers who may purchase them.

Was in Joann the other day and a lady asked my opinion on this:

    http://www.joann.com/pellon-wrap-n-z...false&start=33

New to me. I guess they saw a need for a batting buyers know would be microwave safe and filled it. Batting was on sale then -- don't know if it still is, but Joann always has a coupon you can use.

Everything has to be 100% cotton! including thread. I have used mine for longer than 2 minutes with no problem.
