    Default Purchasing Embroidery Machine

I am seriously considering purchasing a mid-priced embroidery machine. Does anyone have the Brother SE-400? Which one would you recommend & why?

I don't have the SE-400, but I do have the next one up - PE-770. Brother works like a dream. This is the second embroidery machine I've purchased. The first was a Babylock Sofia 2. I do think it's a great price and you'll have fun. If you get one, PM me and I'll send you links for free designs.

You might look at the new Husqvarna Viking embro machine...it goes for abt 800.00...don't know what your price range is.

I have the Brother LB-6770 Project Runway and love it. I get the embroidery cards really cheap from ebay.

I have a Brother PR 620 and love it. I had a Brother ULT sewing/embroidery machine before that and loved that too. I know several people that have the Brother sewing/embroidery machines and love them. I find Brother machines to be very user friendly and the support to be great.

    Good luck and have fun.

I have the PE770 too. Love it. but I want you to know that is only embroidery, no regular sewing and that's what I wanted. I have alreaydy enough regular machines. Lots of free embroidery on the web and very nice ones for purchase too. The only trouble is to find time. Good luck!!!

I have a Brother HE 240, which is essentially the same machine. I really like the way it sews and embroiders, and it is easy to use. The built-in embroidery motifs are quite limited, but I usually use patterns downloaded from embroidery library or bunnycup and have always been happy with the way they sew out. It can use an embroidery card, but I've never used one. I have built up quite a library of downloaded patterns stored on my computer (and backed up to a flash drive). One draw-back is that you are limited to patterns no larger than 4x4 inch.

I have the se 350, and wish I had waited for the upgraded 400. It will connect directly to the computer to download patterns. It has a wonderful stitch for regular sewing, although I usually just use it for embroidery. Easy to thread too. The only negetive is the limited 4" embroidery field. The PE 770 has a 5"x7" embroidery field. Occationally I find the larger design option would be desired.

I started out with the SE 400 and then wanted a bigger embroidery field so purchased the PE 770. Next I upgraded to a Quattro 2. I love the SE 400. when I want to embroider a 4 x 4, I get out this machine rather than drag out the big Quattro. I got my SE 400 from WM and had free shipping to my home. It is a great machine.
