I'm making a scrap quilt that is stars all over and will be just outlining all the stars by hand. would it cause me any problems to put the binding on before doing the quilting? That way I won't have to bother with all the excess around the edges and it would be much easier to handle.

Many times the fabrics can shift a little in the quilting. It is generally recommended to do the quilting first, then trim and square up and then add the binding.

Oh, yeah, do the quilting first. I learned the hard way, ended up having to pick, pick, pick all that binding off! Yuck!!

I've always quilted then put on the binding. I hate having to pick it all out so I play it safe.
