I would like to make a quilt top using off-white muslin as the topping background fabric and the backing. It looks so much like the material my grandmother used and the design looks "just like something she made".
Still a baby when it come to quilting so I need advise. THANKS everyone :D

You can use muslin, I would try to purchase one of the better quality muslins.

Use muslin all the time. I buy it by the bolt and use for piecing and backing. Go for it!!! I do buy a good muslin though, usually a Kona.

I use muslin quite often, I consider it one of the essential blenders. When I can afford it, I get a bolt of unbleached, which is beige and a bolt of bleached, which is white. I love the texture of it and it seems to make everything else pop!

When I think quilts, I think muslin. I love the look it gives, fronts or backs.

I use Moda's muslin and have never been disappointed. I love the old feeling it gives to any quilt.
