OK This seems to be an easy site to understand ;

Here is another tutorial page:

Half-Square Triangle Tutorial

It shows how to make both HST's and QST's

Here is how I make four identical QSTs:

Place two squares right sides together, draw two diagonal lines corner to corner (or an "X") on one of the squares;

Stitch 1/4" along the right side of one line diagonally toward the center of the block and stop when you come to the cross line, needle down;

Turn the block 1/4 turn toward the "X" and stitch on the line to 1/4" beyond the "X" and stop, needle down;

Turn your block again 1/4 turn and stitch diagonally 1/4" along the line to the edge or corner of the block; (this should appear as one leg of the "X" with a "dogleg" in the middle);

Turn the block a 1/4 turn and then repeat this stitching pattern along the remaining lines; (your stitch lines will like like a swastika (hate the word) but you understand it);

Cut on the "X" or drawn lines, press to the darker fabric and you will have four identical QSTs.

To make four opposing QSTs (with the fabrics positions reversed), just reverse the directions and stitch 1/4" diagonally down the left side of the drawn line.

This really is quick and easy once you do it a few times.

Hope this edited version is clearer. If not, I'll try again.

No, I don't think so. It had been illustrated on tv. -- If you send me your address, I'll make one up and send to you. And, if you will, then you can post the picture of same.

Ok....Suz sent me a couple of her squares so that I could use them to take some pics and show how this is done (and so that I could figure it out cuz I just couldn't! LOL) Thanks Suz!!! Everybody give Suz a hand!!! LOL And here are the pics:

This picture shows AFTER I cut on the pencil line

This shows the squares (both sides) for the stitching...I hope you can see her pencil marks and she used red thread to stitch

And this picture shows the results...you end up with two completed QST's after you do the final stitching....VOILA!!!
