I should have just asked my dealer the other day when I was in buying my zipper foot, but they were busy and my husband and kids were waiting in the car. So I'm asking here! :)

I was buying a number 14 zipper foot the other day and a regular one was thirty something dollars, the D one was eighty something. I went with the D one because all feet were 30% off at the time and I had a $20 store credit. That brought the 14D foot down to basically the same cost as a regular one.
What is the benefit though to buying the D feet for my 820 as opposed to buying the non-D feet? I understand my machine will recognize which foot I've put on when I place a D foot with it's sensor on it, but what other reasons are there for spending the major extra bucks for D feet?

Hi. The 'D' feet are designed for the new Bernina Dual Feed feature that is incorporated with the foot mechanism. The purpose is similar to what a walking foot does. If you don't have the appropriate machine, consider calling the store where you bought the foot for more information. Perhaps you can trade for the right one if that's the case.
