Default question about enlarging a pic

I scanned a pic from a coloring book.
I have it on my computer now but I want to enlarge it to fit an standard 8.5x11" page.
I increased the size by certain %s but each time it prints as a 6x8" (approx.)
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance.

what application are you using to enlarge it? Are you sure you are actually enlarging it or just zooming (making the image larger on your screen)?

Yes, I am enlarging it, not just zooming.
Not good at this tech stuff.
I scanned it to show up in Word perfect and went from there.
When I pressed 'Print', I customized to fit the output page.

Open your image with "Paint". Enlarge it Then save it and then print it.

take it to an office store and use a copier or have them enlarge it

My printer properties would be set to make the printed picture that size and with my printer that is enough.

If you can't do that then can you enlarge at the printer itself? Use a copy of your picture and let the printer do the work?

Thank you to everyone that replied.
I got so frustrated with myself and that darn computer/printer that I did as Dolphyngyrl
suggested and took it to Staples.

It doesn't matter what hour it is or what problem I have, I know I can ask about it here and get lots of info in record time.
Thank you.
