Hi, I found a kit that I really like. The description says "You just do the piecing." I called and asked if they provide the fabrics or actually cut the fabrics as per the pattern. The lady on the phone felt it was the former but I'm still uncertain. She felt that it referred to the piecing since it uses large blocks cut from a panel.

Has anybody ever purchased one of their "quick kits"? Are they pre-cut? Needless to say, I prefer to do my own cutting.

It's a good buy so I might just take a chance but thought it was worth asking. Thanks in advance.

Cathy

I'm actually going up there this weekend, so if no one has an answer for you I can check the store in person. :)

I've seen a few kits at their summer sale and I'm guessing they aren't precut but someone else may have a better idea.

If you read the description for the particular "quick quilt" it may tell you what is cut. I just checked the one for the Confetti quilt and it says "And quick, too since lots of the cutting is done for you."

Some kits include charm packs, layer cakes, jelly rolls, etc. and, if you use those fabrics as they are, then they would be pre-cut. Other fabrics in the kit would be sent in yardages.

Are these "Quick Quilts", that state no sewing? If this is the case, they are foam pieces that have slots cut into it, and you cut the fabric to roughly fit the shape of the piece and then you stuff the fabric into the slots to 'make' a quilt. The fabric is fitted into the slots snugly, and it looks like a quilted block. I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about. Maybe what you have is something different.

No, definitely not a "no sewing" kit. But the motifs cut from the panels are "quick" because they're 11 x 13 and otherwise might appear to be appliqued.

Thanks for the offer, Brynn. If I can't sort it out by then, I will definitely take you up on it.

Thanks,
Cathy

Good, cmw0829. What I got, I got not realizing exactly what they were, and I was not impressed.

Hi cmw0829! Betsy from Keepsake Quilting here. Each kit is different, some do have more fabric cut for you than others. If you let me know which kit is in question, I'd be happy to let you know what the specifics are! Leave me a message here, or feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thanks!

Cathy-
Keepsake kits are usually NOT pre-cut, so you'd have to do the cutting yourself. An exception would be if the kit involved some "die cut" shaped pieces (animals, leaves, trees, etc) in which case the cut has already been made.
Hope this helps!
