I have made many of these bags but without a magnet. At what point in the making do I insert a magnetic closure and where does it go? In the lining so it is hidden? Thank you all.

The magnets that I got have to be put in the lining prior to putting it together with the bag itself so it will be hidden in the lining, batting, and outside piece.

I put mine in right before I put the outside fabric bag inside of the lining. However I have forgotten to do this once and went in the bottom of the bag and put them in after I sewed the topstitching. It did work but I have tried never to do it that way again.

What kind of magnet are you all using?? Is it the kind for bags with the prongs, where the magnetic snap is on the outside of fabric, or what exactly? I tried the snap and it was waaaayyy too strong, so I would like to find one with a little less magnetic power.

I put my magnet about an inch down from the top.

Can you explain why you would not- I am making my first bag (Not BT) but another one and thought it would be good to keep it closed and not so open :-)
