Does anyone know if using overlocking thread will hurt my sewing machine (Janome 6500). I recently bought two spools (they were on sale so I thought I would try them), and they seem to work for piecing. But, I don't want to find out that I am hurting my machine. Thank you!

Any sewing thread other then the glazed or waxed threads are fine for machines.

Canton - and someone else just posted from here, too. They are hoping to sell their stash. Where are you from?

While overlocking thread can be used, you need to be aware that it could leave more lint than regular quilting thread. It is also made a little lighter than a lot of threads since in serger work you're using three or more threads to do the same work that two threads are doing on regular sewing.

Thank you, Kate! It did seem thinner. I think I will go back to my regular thread once this is gone. I appreciate the help.

It will be fine-maybe a lot of lint, but will be fine!
