I hope I have this in the right section! This software needs .pes files in order to embroider on the Brother sewing machine. I can't open .pes files on my pc. Do you need the PED Basic box in order to view these files. Any help would be appreciated before I spend the money to purchase.

    Thank you,

What machine do you have ?

I have the SE270D and you have to have the Ped Basic to open the files and then move them to the machine

    Dear Quilter711,
You don't need the box to VIEW the files, but you need to box to take them from your computer and put them on your embroidery machine. You need to have a different software to unzip your files in order to view what you have. Also, if you have Vista or Windows 7, you have to make sure the PED basic box will be compatible with your embroidery machine. My original PED box will not work with my Vista.

Thank you Sharon & Taco. We have all the answers at our finger tips with this quilting board. I have the model SE-350. I have Windows XP serivce pack 3 running on the pc. I have been told that you can't open .pes files on your pc. The PED Basic box is the converter used to save to the card, then put in the embroidery machine. I have been told by the seller that this will be returnable if it doesn't work. I think I might bite the bullet! Keeping my fingers crossed. I don't know anything about upzipping a file.

I use a flash drive to transfer PES files from my computer to my machine.

I don't think the SE350 has a port for a flash drive. But if it does, then that would be great.

You need the Ped basic software to be able to open the files and see the pics

    I don't think the 350 has a flash drive port either :?

I also use the PES for my Babylock, and I just put it on the flash stick and then veiw it on the machine! Even though it doesn't show picture on the computer, i see it when it is on my machine..try that!
