Default Question on Handi Quilter Frame

Can I use my DSM on this frame? I have not been able to find anything other than Handi quilters with frame. I have an opportunity to purchase the frame only but need to know if I will be able to use my table top machines. If this is possible, is $150.00 a good price?

I am using my Janome 1600P. I bought a new carriage with control that will fit my Janome and a speed control to go with it. However, I continue to have problems with thread breaking at sporadic intervals. Everytime I think I have it licked, it happens again. Someone gave this one to me. She had been trying to sell it with no buyers and she just wanted it out of the way since she had a new "real" longarm. I probably paid another $150 for the carriage and control.

Even with all the problems, I would still rather work with my quilts loaded on the frame than to try and make a good quilt sandwich for quilting the regular way.

Oh yes -- forgot to mention that my HQ is one of the older (maybe oldest) models.

Yes, you can use a DSM on the frame BUT it should be a model with a relatively large throat. If it has a regular throat, then you won't have a lot of room for a pattern since the quilt will be rolled into the throat area. I have a Grandquilter (same as DeneK's machine size-wise) for mine. One of these days I'll actually use it. lol

Yes you can use a DM, but you will need a carriage to put the machine on. The carriage is what makes the machine able to do the free motion, circles, etc. Not a bad price, but a carriage will cost you as much again.

You can always call HQ and they will tell you what you'd need to make it work.
