I have been exploring here and see a number of great projects using selveges......BUT, no one says (or I missed it) ....what size do you usually cut your selveges???? I know -- probably a dumb question...however, I think I want to start saving them and play with them!!!! :-D

I have been wondering the same thing. How wide do they need to be?

This may not be the answer you are looking for but I do believe the width is up to you. I have been making mine
1 1/2 in to 2 in.

That's about the width I cut mine. Been saving them for a rainy day.

What do you do with the salvages after saving them? What kind of projects use salvages? Thanks.

My question is are selvages pieced with a 1/4 inch seam or stitched on a foundation piece with raw edges left? I would like to make some selvage pot holders but can't seem to grasp how to do them. I love the way they look. Thanks all.
