I'm another one that does miniatures, so for me they aren't "crumbs" they are the size I want! I also do paper piecing, so I use a lot of tiny pieces that way too!

mlaceruby - thanks for the pinwheel idea. I tried it and while I think the pinwheels on black aren't as pretty as yours, I do like how they look!
