don't short yourself on your FMQ, the blocks look great and I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job in the border too...

Nothing wrong with your quilting which is great, IMHO. It would look odd to have the center of the quilt with stitching and the borders without, so go for it! Share again when done...you know we're your best cheering section!

Agree that you should quilt the border. How about figure 8's. They are similar to what you have done in the blocks and not too hard. You did a great job so far!

I did end up doing the piano key border now on to the binding. I do have a huge confession though. My Babylock Melody did the quilting design in boxes. I don't trust my FMQ ( stipples only-ha) The Melody has several quilting stitches

Quilting the borders keeps them from puckering and looking unfinished. Yes- quilt the orders.

On some of mine if I can't think of how to quilt the border I just go right up the center with one of the pretty stitches on my machine. One I did not care for but the others turned out really nice.

If I had to wait until I was a pro before I could quilt my quilts, I'd have quit long ago. We're our own worst critics.
