I am not sure if quilt board is what it is called but what i am talking about is the section that you place on your wall to lay out your quilt and quilt pieces.

My question is what do you make those out of?

Hi,

Design wall is what you are looking for. I use a flannel backed table cloth. I just tack it up when I need it.

There are many ways to make a design wall or board. I use a piece of batting.

I think you are talking about a design wall. There are a number of ways you can make one, or ones that can be bought. Put "design wall" in Search & you will find many posts to browse & get ideas from. Good luck!

I just made one for myself this weekend....I bought a $5 52 x 70" vinyl tablecloth with the flannel backing and used duck tape to hang it from a door frame - I put a couple of pieces of cardboard behind it to angle it out a bit.....it worked great!

For our club I bought a sheet of 4'X 8' styrofoam an covered it with flannel. I used duct tape to hold it on, its been up for 3 or 4 yrs and is still holding.

My husband bought 2 sheets of insulation boards and I taped them together. They stand against my sewing room wall ready to use when needed. It also is used to spray baste my quilt sandwhich together. I pin the back to the board and spray the layers along with some pins to hold it while spraying.
