    Quilt on "The Descendants" (2011)

Can someone please identify the pattern of the gold quilt used in the movie "The Descendants" with George Clooney? It first appears on the hospital bed of his injured wife and then, symbolically, at the end.

It's an excellent movie, by the way.

I haven't seen the movie, but a quick internet search reveals that other people are saying it's a Hawaiian pattern. Does that help?

I have no idea but it is a pretty quilt. If this link works maybe someone else will recognize the pattern in the picture

It looks like it might be a Hawaiian Breadfruit tree appliqué quilt. Hawaiian patterns are passed down through the family lines and some don't release those patterns. If you Google Hawaiian Breadfruit Tree quilt pattern, you might get lucky.

The breadfruit pattern looks less sinuous than the one in the movie. Since the quilt's role was larger than a mere background prop, I suspect it was well researched so the tradition that you mention of a unique family pattern gives the prop a feeling of authenticity. I'd just like to get a good, clear look at it. In the film, it's only visible in a rumpled state.

It looks like a Hawiian quilt pattern of some kind. I noticed it too and I love the comfort the family got from the quilt after the mother died. That is why we quilt.
