Default Quilt Festival in Cincinatti Ohio!!!!

A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!!! Here are a couple of pictures I took from the floor above the convention floor. It gives somewhat of an idea what it was like. More than 1200 vendors!! You could sew on any kind of machine your heart desired, we tested out all the long arms. Something to dream about!! Took a class in sketching with thread. I am in love. Like I needed another hobby. LOL Anyway, the show quilts were "OVER THE TOP". I spent several hours just looking at quilts, and I know I missed quite a few. Met the man that made the "Last Supper" quilt using 1" blocks. WOW!! I hope you enjoy the pictures. If anyone that was there has pictures to add, please do so. I didn't take any on the floor, just didn't want to deal with figuring out which ones you could and which ones you couldn't. Besides, I was busy looking. And buying. Yea, I did it. But paid cash most of the time. No paper trail! LOL
The first two pictures is a view showing the show quilts. The Second two pictures show the vendor area. Or, I should say, a very small portion of the vendor area. Will we go again? YES. Actually, planning to go to Paduca next year!

It was a wonderful show!!! The first time I've ever been!! Got there at 10:30am and left about 6!!! I was by myself, so no one to distract me.....sigh!!!

My most OMG quilt was the picture of the Last Supper done w/ almost 52,000 half inch squares!!!

I spent money, too - oh well, that's why I went!!

I would love to see a picture of that 1" pieces quilt. Can you find it anywhere on the internet?

Here's a link to how it was done. I was surprised that it was done by a gentleman. Now I have to go back and read - it is totally fascinating!!!

eta: It was worth the $10 admission and $8 to park just to see this piece!!!

Thank you for posting this link. I saw the quilt and was amazed. I have been telling everyone at work about it! And I agree, even if I had not bought a thing, it was worth the money to see this. There were many beautiful quilts there, but this one was breath taking!

I was standing there looking at it in awe when a lady came up and started talking. She saw the scar from my recent Rotator Cuff surgery. She had just had it, as well. We talked for quite a while. It was the wife of the man that made it. The next day, we went back and spent quite a while talking to her and to her husband. He is a charming gentleman! His wife was a quilter and he asked her to make a quilt from a picture someone had sent them that showed all the pixels, you know, the old digital thing where you can see all the little squares. She told him no and laughed, so he did it himself. When he finished that picture he told her he was going to do the last supper next. And he did. It took him 2 1/2 years and finished in 1999. Since then it has been in more than 400 shows. By the way, he is a retired dentist. And, the quilter he used followed the shapes of the figures in the picture, which helps to make them stand out. YES, that one quilt was worth the price of admission! AND the shopping was awesome! I don't know how I will ever find time to use all the stuff I bought. LOL Anyone that gets a chance should attend at least one of these.
