    Quilt guild update

So I went to my first quilt guild meeting and I am now a proud member of Smithtown Stitchers. Everybody was really warm, easy going and welcoming. They seem like a very nice and talented group of ladies. Their show and tell was amazing. I am not a big fan of appliqué but quilts I saw tonight were stunning, no word of a lie, they would win any contest hats down. The time flew by really quickly and I can not wait to go to the next meeting. The guild is organizing a retreat on Shelter Island in March and I think I will join them for my first ever retreat of any kind. If any of Smithtown Stitchers are reading this, thank you for your warm welcome, and see you in November. Happy quilting!
I've got a smile on my face, I've got four walls around me
The sun in the sky, the water surrounds me
I'll win now but sometimes I'll lose
I've been battered, but I'll never bruise

So happy this worked out for you. It's always more fun to get together when you have something in common.

How fun, I wish I had the time to devote to a guild, maybe when I'm older

Thanks so much for posting this update - I was thinking about you and hoping that you'd get a warm welcome. Can't wait to hear about your retreat!
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.

    I'm so glad for you.
You'll have an even more wonderful time on your retreat.
Be sure to ask folks who've gone on one before what to bring, beyond your sewing and machine.

Thanks for the update, when I got on this morning I was wondering if you would tell how things went. Glad it worked out for you. I wish there was something near me, I think it would be fun as long as there were no quilt police.

Dolphyngyrl I am just a few years older than you, busy mom of two very active kids with no logistics support (all our family lives in Canada, 5000 miles away), but I carved time in my crazy schedule for myself. Guilds that may fit your busy life are usually the modern quilt guilds which are usually full of moms like us who juggle million things at a time. And besides, who needs sleeping, it is so overrated. LOL
