I have made a design for a quilt label for my GD quilt. I just really don't know how to attach it. Is ironing it on acceptable? I will make it on my embroidery machine.

Beautiful label!
I usually stitch mine to the backing before I put it all together and do the quilting.

I would worry about whether it would stay on if ironed on after the quilting was finished. However you could iron it on before quilting, and then quilt over it to really hold it down.

I usually sew mine on by hand after quilting, but that's because I forget to do it before quilting.

There are many fabric glues that are permanent and may stay better than an iron on product :D:D:D

I leave about 1/4"-1/2" of fabric around my labels, iron the raw edges in and whipstitch to the back. Usually after quilting because most of my quilts are made without a specific recipient in mind.

Can you tell me the name of a good one. The quilt is already quilted. It was a Xmas gift. My hand sewing is not too good. :(

I never thought I could quilt over the label. I started to put it on put didn't think I could quilt over it. Next time I will do that.

I usually leave fabric to turn under and if the label is small, I put it on after quilting making sure my hand stitching does not go through to the front. If it is a large label, I sew it on the back before quilting and then quilt through everything.

Here is another one. It is not too big so I think I will leave 1/2" and turn it under and sew it on. Guess I can do it since I do binding by hand. Thanks for all the good advice.

I like to hand stitch mine on. A child quilt gets washed a lot and I would worry about the label working loose.
