Default Need some help please - how to sew this?

I'm making a backing of a quilt much like this link - http://alittlegray.blogspot.com/2012...aby-quilt.html

How do i sew/construct this? I have my center piece cut and the 4 pieces that butt up to it. Those 4 are full length. I'd prefer not to cut 2 of them down but I don't know how else to make this.

Looking forward to your ideas and comments.

Please & Thanks !

Jan

The strips around the square are sewn on in partial seams. You sew one side along the square but stop 1/4 inch from the edges. This allows you to continue sewing on the next strip and the you go back and continue the seam after attaching the next one. Clear as mud, right. I don't know how else to describe it.

What Tartan said. Although I'd sew the colored sections together before attaching to the center square. Meaning, I'd sew the blue print fabric to the blue chevron fabric, and the orange print fabric to the orange chevron fabric, etc. Then attach those sections to the center square with a partial seam, like Tartan described.

TY Tartan! I 'thot' about that momentarily but decided that when I sewed strip 2 on that there would be a small 'gap'. I'm going to give it a go. Thanks!

TY Peggi - I hadn't even gotten that far lol. I definitely see the logic in doing it that way. Maybe I can get this back knocked out and get it quilted tomorrow! Thanks again.
