Default Quilt pieces=puzzle!

Hi Everyone,

I was silly enough to pick up a bunch of already cut quilt pieces at a garage sale. Now, Im tearing my hair out trying to figure out what quilt the person was planning to make! Maybe these will ring a bell with someone here! I have packets (almost 300). Each packet has 3 fabric pieces...(1)2-1/2 inch x 10 inch strip.(1) 4-1/2 in square and (1) 5-1/4 inch square.
Anyone have an idea??

Deb

Don't know the pattern, but it sounds like you sew the 4 1/2 in. square to the 5 1/4 in. square. Then sew the 10 in. strip to the top/bottom/side to become sashing between the blocks. ... just guessing. Hopefully, someone will know exactly what the pattern is.

but that doesn't seem like it works since you have 4.5" plus a 5.25" piece. If each had the same ending...either .5 or .25", I'd understand.

I think the 5-1/4 inch piece might be cut into fourths - making quarter square triangles - and the triangles might be sewn to the 4 -1/2 inch piece - that would make a square in a square or a diamond in a square (I never know which one to call it)

I don't have any idea yet of what to do with the 10 inch strip.

I think you should separate them all out and make a Bonnie Hunter scrap quilt. Just saying.

I realized that I wasn't very clear in my explanation. Each packet has exactly the same 3 pieces.
The strip is a small cream print.
The larger square is a purple on purple print.
The smaller square is a floral that has colors from both other pieces
Im still sure there was an original "plan" and that makes it a puzzle for me!

Could you take some pictures and let us see them? That might help. I'm a "visual" person. Can't really grasp something unless I see it. Maybe someone on this board will be able to help you.

I'm with QuiltsRfun....I would have bought it as well, but added it to the scrap bins... each in it's proper sized box of course...to combine with other fabrics to make a scrap quilt.
