There is no excuse for bad manners. You can forgive their bad taste. :-D

I would have ask them to stay for lunch, and fed her a knuckle sandwich.

Know-it-all syndrome:
Characterized by socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks
May be genetic.
Isolation often used by others to avoid venomous remarks
Management required for acceptable social behavior
Difficult to convince person suffering that it is needed.

I feel sorry for the friend but her cousin would have really been scrambling to get out of the house if she started that with me. You are much nicer than I am and that's the truth. Hope your friend comes back, she sounds like a good person.

Kudos to you for speaking up and addressing the cousins rudeness/ignorance, and jeers to the cousin for coming into your home and insulting you!

She sounds like an "Aspie" - someone with Asperger's syndrome.

Their brains are wired in such a way that they have no concept of putting themselves in someone else's shoes. They also have no filter between their brain and their mouth. This is a disastrous combination in social situations.

Disorders on the autism spectrum are rampant in this country. :(
