I'm leaving early tomorrow for a 3 day quilt retreat at a center run by monks. The facility is "out of this world" gorgeous, food is provided, and there will only be 14 of us at this event. What a wonderful time to be able to spend with ladies who think just like I do. It's a 'bring your own project' type retreat, so all will be working on something different. What do you like to take to work on at retreats? Do you have a favorite location?

I've never been to a retreat. It sounds like fun.

So far my favorite retreat place is Bridge Creek Cottage in Augusta,Wisconsin.
I like to take simple piecing projects, so I have time to visit with the other quilters there.
Have fun!!

For the last few years my two older sisters have been going to a 'bring your own project' retreat every October. It is not a 'sleep over' but daily with meals and inspiration and much sharing provided. They live 2500 miles from me. For the last 3 years, I have been trying to organize vacation time to join them. Something always gets in the way. This year, it is the birth of my second grandchild. Oh well...maybe next year.

Enjoy your time and we'll be waiting for you to tell us all about it when you return.

My friend and I have gone to her sisters cabin in UT for a few days at a time and sew and sew and sew....we have a wonderful time sitting in the sunroom working on our projects. Time to go again soon.

I have been to a retreat twice, but I regret due to a phobia I seem to have I shant be going back. Despite quilting for nearly thirty years I have discovered that I can't sew in public. I get nervous, I rush at things in order to keep up with the others with disastrous results and generally end up failing to complete anything that I would be proud to bring home.

My girlfriends and I have gone away to an Inn in Vermont for 3 day mixed media retreats. Some sew and some scrapbook. The common demoniator is laughter and fun!

Best part - the innkeepers call us down from the workroom for meals. When we are done we compliment their cooking and thank them - then we WALK AWAY from the mess and go right back to what we want to do!
