    Quilt room overhaul..

My DH has offered to help me re-do my sewing room....He's going to build a sewing table and shelving, etc. which I'm very excited about.

Any great ideas you wish you could incorporate into your sewing room? I need to suggest it while I have the chance.

    Thanks, Watson

Here are "before" pics...Excuse the mess! Can't wait for the "After" pics.

It looks as if your cutting table is quite low. Is there a way your husband could make you a table (or adapt the one you have) so that you don't have to bend over when cutting? My husband made me a maple 'workbench' which is 36" tall and has storage underneath. Much easier on the back!

I have an 8' long table and hubby put PVC pipe extensions on the bottom of the legs to raise it - 8" for me - and it's long enough 2 put 2 36" cutting mats. Also I took a piece of 2'x4' plywood and covered it with batting and cotton (or canvas) and stapled it to back for my ironing board. I had an old adjustable ironing board and I can put this on top of it to use. It can be removed and ironing board folded up.

Ditto what she said. Lots of ideas here. Peg boards are good.

The one thing I would really, really love would be an ironing board that is attached to the wall and can fold up out of the way. Sort of like a Murphy bed type thing. That ironing board takes so much space!! It should be rectangular and not tapered as I rarely need the tapered end anymore. My Dad could have done this for me. My husband? Not so much, but bless him, he would try!

Thanks for the comments so far.
I'll measure that table and see what we can do and what a good idea about the ironing board!

They sell them at Lowe's, Home Depot etc. Can't remember exactly where I last seen them. One was built into my wall, it only lasted about a year when it started to droop so had to stop using it.

I love my ironing board that folds down out of a little cupboard in the wall. I got mine from home depot. I do have to admit that it is not often folded up and put away!
