    Default Quilt Ruler Question

I need some help with finding a pattern for a quilt ruler I picked up at a yard sale. The ruler is 8 inches wide by 24 inches long and mitered on one end. Markings on ruler increments of inch. The name on the ruler is Miterite Holiday Designs copyright 1984. Does anyone have a pattern or know of a use for it? Thank you

I Googled "Miterite Holiday Designs" and in a post on 3-21-11 by "Jan in VA" she wrote the following. Maybe you could contact her for some help.

If it is 8" wide, it was probably the Miterite ruler from Holiday Designs; mine has the date 1984 on it! Loved that ruler when I first started quilting; wonder why I got away from using it? Gotta but it back on the ruler caddy.

I have one like that. I bought it online from JoAnns not long ago when I had a free shipping coupon. Is this is? http://www.joann.com/my-favorite-mit...-x24/prd22605/

The description of the ruler says it's used to miter borders and make 45 degree diamonds. So maybe look for patterns for 45 degree diamonds?

I use mine like any other long ruler to cut strips. It has a lot of degree lines so that makes it versatile to cut shapes.

    BellaBoo has that right!

It works like any other long wide ruler.
It works like any 45 degree triangle ruler.
It works for any 30/45/60/90 degree cuts.
It works like an 8" square ruler.
It makes a mean mitered border ruler....was with this one "way back when" that I taught myself to miter!

It was "the bomb!" in it's day. No reason to replace those wonderful, well thought out original tools, just because there are so many new quilters making so many new gizmos these days. I'd rather have one good, I-know-how-to-use-this tool any day than a bunch of new what-was-this-for?? tools cluttering up my space any day!
