I've been in Arkansas since 2003 but have been back to the Dallas area in the interim and to Quilt Country. However, I haven't been back in a couple of years. Sorry to hear about the poor service and bad attitude of the staff. Also, I would think that your full purchase (minus any sale items) should count toward your card punch. I think that particular employee must have had a very bad attitude. Poor service/attitude never bodes well for a quilt shop.

It would be helpful if quilt shops kept an eye on message boards like this and could learn from what they read - -even in cases when it is not written directly about them.

Thanks everyone! Not sure about driving all the way from west DFW (and I mean out by Weatherford) to to McKinney, but I will definitely check out what close though!

The Old Craft Store in downtown Carrollton, Richland Sewing Center in Hurst on Precinct Road, Susie's in downtown Garland. I also shop at Quilt Country - they have a huge selection of fabric and I have always found them friendly and very helpful.

I love Lone Star House of Quilts in Arlington - really lovely employees and the whole house is full to the rafters of beautiful things to see. Every room in this old house including the kitchen and bathroom are used for sale space - wonderful stuff everywhere you look! :)

I liked Cabbage Rose, plus the following shops were great too.

Quilters Connection, Dallas
Batiks Galore, between Joshua and Godley
Houston St. Mercantile, Granbury

Enjoy your trip.

Sandy Brawner, owner of Quilt Country in Lewisville, is a friend of mine and the co-motivator with me of the conversation on Fabshop.net in 1998 (?) that started the whole national shop hop craze. I have sent her, names deleted and site deleted, the posts about the shop; as a former owner myself, I know she'd want to know.

Richland Sewing Center in Hurst is great. Quilters Stash is right next door and it is great also. They are my two favorite quilt stores.
