Default Quilt Shops in Japan

Hi everyone,

My name is Chuck and I am very new here. I would just like to ask help from people knowledgeable in quilting or quilts.

I am currently in the Philippines, but I am from Vancouver BC. I am planning to create a business, a shop inclined with quilting, fabrics, sewing, crochet etc. My first stop in Asia is the Philippines. I am looking for suppliers of the crafts mentioned. I am planning to go to Japan next week.

Any suggestions of stores in Japan would be really appreciated. I've been struggling to find quilting shops in Japan using Google.

Thank you to everyone who will read this and will comment.

Hi Chuck,

Here are some links for you. Not sure if they are suppliers, but you might be able to contact them and find out who they use.

I don't know if you will find suppliers, but if you are in the Tokyo area you may want to visit this street.

The biggest fabric store is Tomato: http://www.nippori-tomato.com/

The craft area is in Shibuya. They have lots of bead stores there.

Enjoy Japan!

The main retail stores are Okadaya and Yuzawaya. They sell fabrics and also craft supplies, with a good emphasis on patchwork and quilting, with all the equipment you could need. By the way, all their measurements are in the metric system. They are everywhere in Tokyo, I don't know about outside Tokyo. But retail stores are probably not what you want. The above mentioned stores in Nippori are wonderful for fabrics.

There is a lovely lady in Japan with a blog- google Taniwa. She quilts with friends, and is a great fountain of information on Japanese culture from an American perspective as she was raised in the US and moved to Japan when she married. I'm sure she could point you in the right direction.

Hi there,

Sorry for the delayed response, I've just been swamped.

I have contacted the owners of the blog sites you've listed. Hopefully they will be able to help me too.

Thank you. Thank you. I really appreciate your help.

Hi Lisa,

Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate it.

Truth is, when I started searching for suppliers I thought this was a mistake, but knowing there are people like you and everyone who responded to my call for help makes me feel relieved. Thank you.

Now, wherever I go, I will surely enjoy every single minute I am looking for suppliers.

Cheers,

Charles

Hi,

Thank you for the tip about the measurement there. That is very helpful.

Yes, I think retail stores wouldn't be able to help me with what I need since I will be purchasing bulk orders.

Again, thank you. Your input in this matter is very important to me since I am not an expert in this field.

Regards,

Charles

Hi Monroe,

I am currently reading her blog. Thank you for this.

I will be leaving the Philippines on Monday evening, so I really need to have an itinerary or at least know where to go.

All the best,

Charles,
