I altered a quilt pattern and I thought it would end up 74X82. Well, it is going to be about 92x101. Is this a bad or goofy size. This quilt is a gift for a friend who is retiring.
Welcome to the Quilting Board!

No thats not goofy, that will just be a nice big quilt. Queen size flat sheets measure 92" x 102"
I think it is a great size for a quilt and I am sure your friend will be thrilled with the quilt pab
Thank you so much for y'all opinions. I just wasn't sure.
There is never a quilt that could be goofy!
The more quilt you have, the more you got to snuggle up with.
That's queen (almost king) size. She'll love it. It will fit her bed and give extra for moving around. Don't you hate when you move or turn over and a body part feels a draft?
I had to smile at your question because I made a quilt this year for my son who is in the Air Force. He was being sent to Alaska and I knew he would need a quilt! (I have made others for him, but knew he'd probably need several layers.) Anyway, it was a log cabin pattern and I decided to increase the size, and all the time I just kept buying more and more fabric (what fun!) until I realized that I had increased it much more than necessary. In the end I had enough blocks for his quilt, one for us (DH and me) and a 56x56 one for my DS and DIL. What can I say, I'm a librarian and obviously not a mathematician. lol
Now that is a good story. I am an analytical person so I really can't figure out how I could be so dumb. Thanks.
I agree with bigger is better!
