Quilt as you go

Quilt as you go
I need to make a king size quilt for a gift and I don't have a long arm so I would like to try a QAYG log cabin. I'd like to quilt all 3 layers together then attach the squares. Does anyone know of a tutorial or step by step how to's? Thank you

This isn't quite the same as QAYG, but quilting in sections is well explained in Marti Michell's book, Machine Quilting in Sections. I used several of the methods in her book to put together large quilts before I got a longarm.

Georgia Bonesteel is the queen of QAYG. Here is a three part video of how she joins the blocks together after quilting them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ucsUwWbj4o

There are quite a few hints on the forum here too, I used QAYG in the search here to come up with this one, and I know there are more. http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...lt-t60764.html

Fun and Done makes the backing larger than the square then you sew the backings togather and bring to the front of the two blocks and sew down on each side. Easier than cutting a separate piece to connect the sqs.
Google Fun and Done.

I found lots of tutorials, both on this board and with google and you tube. I did make a Fun and Done and it was fun and then done. Also experimented with another kind. Will be doing more experimenting.
