I'm sure it could be used. If I was going to try I'd leave out the batting though. Where you thinking you'd quilt over the lines using them as a guide, or quilting something completely different right over? I'd only advise that you be careful how you quilted it.

Have never thought of that. I would probably leave out batting as well. Quilted fabrics are usually more expensive though, regular muslin would work, just don't buy the real thin cheapest stuff.

It could end up costing a lot more to use quilted muslin than it would to use regular batting and plain muslin wouldn't it?
Not saying it couldn't be used but seems that it would be much more expensive to do a quilt that way....looks like it sells for about $12.95 per yard.

Ahh but if you have a 40% or 50% off coupon, it's more like $6 a yard...

I couldn't find any place online in WV that had quilted muslin to use a 40% or 50% off coupon...that $6.00 a yard sounds like a deal to me.

I'm sorry, Bev, I misread your question. I've never even seen quilted muslin.

I remember looking at some at Walmart for $4???????? I just figured hrmmmmmmm its already quilted. AND pretty colors. They have a pink (little Pink& White squares) one, I thought would look sooooooooo pretty on back of a baby quilt. I tie my quilts so It'll look quilted in back, tied in front  Quilted Muslin is fabric already quilted with batting. Wish I had a picture to show you. ohhhhhhhh wait a sec........ many ppl use the quilted fabric for purses.... i never wanted to deal with the batting. ok true be told the sandwiching part scares me. so i figured hey, i'll just use the quilted fabric

So really Bev, what you are wanting to do is to use the quilted muslin for your quilt...and put a really "pretty" pieced back on it  And tie it on.

I'm no expert, but I don't see why you couldn't. Its your quilt, do it however you want!
