I saw these the other day at Joann's and wondered what they are used for. They are very short and thin. I am sure some of you know what these little things are.

they may have been called betweens, I cant remember for sure

betweens are the needle of choice for hand quilting; tiny and very fine.

Yes, they are betweens. Betweens are used for hand quilting. If you're just starting out with hand quilting, then I would use a size 10.
