The ability to take our dreams/ideas and turn their beauty into a reality, and then spread that beauty around when we give the quilts to others to enjoy. :)

I also give away everything I make.. For me each one is done with love and meant to show the reciever how much they mean to me :) So far I have only kept one that I made years ago.. It was a cheaters top and it is tied.. Whoever is here visiting uses it.. However that is going to change after Christmas.. I have decided that I am doing a few to keep at home

I think you all have covered the reasons to quilt very thoroughly.

I have the love of fabric that was inherited from my mother. The need for an artistic outlet that was encouraged by my mother and now my sisters. The skills of sewing and handwork that was taught to me by my mother.

Quilting is a continuation of traditions of the past and for the future. We quilt to prevent quilting from becoming a lost art!

Years ago I thought about why I love to quilt and I came up with 2 things:

1. I, as a busy person with many things I have to do, love quilting because I get to make all the decisions. I decide what pattern, what colors, how big, how to quilt, when to work on it, and who to give it to.

2. I love having the opportunity to give a "HUG-TO-GO" to those who need it. I've given away about 10 ragged flannels to those who needed a hug for one reason or another--and most I've never met. Trust me--it did as much for me as it did them. :D

So, I think quilters have a lot of love in them, love of beauty, love of comfort.

I quilt for several reasons ...one it reminds me of Granny ..the one who taught me to quilt ....and also who can say quilt with out thinking the word love....it is a way to express your love to those who matter to you ( the recepient) so basically a quilt to me is a great big warm hug...memories and tons of love :)
