I finally finished putting the batting and back on my daughter's quilt. I was wondering how to finish. I don't have a machine quilter, so I would have to use my regular machine.

    The top is embroidered.

This is my first quilt so I would appreciate any advice offered.

    Thanks

Have you attached your quilt top, batting & backing together in some way or are you just ready to start doing that? Is your embroidery just on the quilt top? Can you post a photo? It would be helpful to have a little more information in order to give you a better answer. :-)

Since this is your first quilt, Deffinately do a lot of practice samples before you do anything on your quilt. Practice a little of each to see which you are happier with and is easier for you. Machine Quilting HATES me!! so I hand quilt, not because I am good at it but its what works for me.

I think I might be the only one but I do some on machine, tie some and hand quilt some all on one quilt, one had buttons too. What ever works for you. Some people tack them :D

I don't have time to hand quilt everything, so I save that for very special projects. There is nothing wrong with machine quilting, either. In fact, I machine quilt things that I expect to wear out, like kids quilts! Crafty things like tablerunners and most wall quilts, too, get machine quilted. I just use my regular sewing machine.

Me too! Some quilts want beautiful handwork details, but monotonous ditchwork. I see nothing wrong with this "mixed media" method. Doing the boring parts by machine allows me to concentrate on more artistic and fun areas by hand.

I have machine sewed the top, batting, and back together. I embroidered just the top of the quilt. I am not good at taking photos and posting on the web. I will try this weekend.
