Default Quilting Fabric in Melbourne

My husband is currently traveling in Australia in Melbourne. I told him it was only fair that he buy me fabric for quilting while there since I didn't get to go. Can anyone give suggestions on where he can find fabric?

Thanks in advance,
Jen

I can't help you, but I wanted to say that I hope he's better at that than my husband. I shudder to think what he would bring me and then wait for me to use. lol

I would have him Google quilt shops in Melbourne and see what he can find. When I went on a cruise back in 2010, I had a hard time finding some when we made a few stops. However, the prices may be higher than here, though take in consideration that they sell by the meter (~40 inches vs our 36 yard) and the exchange rate is $1AUD = 0.75 USD.

There are several shops online in the US that are selling Aboriginal fabrics, like HeartSong Quilts.

Try googling Melbourne fabric shops yourself and see if they provide links? Perhaps then you could pick out some things that you like and give him specifics to choose from? Safer than cashs_mom's situation!

Tell him to take a large cheque book with him. Fabric is just soooo much more expensive here in Australia than overseas.

Fabric is very expensive in Australia. If you are looking for Australian themed fabric, eQuilter has a fantastic selection and their prices are very good.
