You can use whatever you want in a quilt. when you are doing the swaps on the board, then they need to be 100% cotton. what you can afford and what you like is the key to what you use. But for that price, I would buy what you want out of it, gosh you could make a practice sandwich for quilting for just pennies. I have not done this yet, because I cant afford to waste anything. Thanks, everyone, for welcoming me to the Quilting Forum. I agree with you that 100% cotton fabric is the best choice. I bought some of the cheap fabric Walmart had on sale ($5/5 yds) and returned it today. I didn't inspect it very close while in the store, but when I unwrapped it, I knew I wouldn't be using it. Thanks again for all the advice.
