I need a strip of separation between my quilt and a border. The best color match I can find is a 1" rickrack. If I wash and dry this will it lose shape? When I sew it on should I follow the waves?

I think rickrack looks cute when it's set into edge seams of things like potholders and place mats, so just a scallopy looking edge is left showing. I inherited a sewing box full of rickrack and binding packets and that's what I plan to do with the rickrack, some day! Also for apron trim around pockets and such - I think it gives the apron a cute vintage feel.

Rickrack - I used to hate the stuff when I had to iron things.

I love the look of rickrack...very retro....like using piping....sometimes it is the only thing that works.....
if you have old-old-old rickrack it could be cotton, I would suggest washing, perhaps just in a bathroom sink in
hottest water, I personally prefer to follow the zig zag when sewing so it lays nice and flat....but that is a personal choice, some like the little teeth flapping in the wind......
