Thought you might like to see what I did today. As you may know, my DGS's birthday was March 1st, turned 17. He is having a bunch of his friends over after they go to one of those rock-climbing places (I was invited  ). I asked him the other day if he was too old for his favorite cake, he said he is never too old for a soccer ball cake. I have been making these since he was about 5. Needless to say he is a soccer player and a huge fan. The ball is yellow cake and the field is chocolate.

Great cake! Do you use a special mold for the ball?

Yes, Wilton has a ball. You can make a baseball, bowling ball, golf ball; all the directions are included. I have arthritis in my hands and wrist so it is becoming increasingly difficult to do these things. My DGD one year wanted a Barbie doll cake. So, of course I spent a fortune on that one. I told her she will have a Barbie cake every year, her wedding cake will be a Barbie cake. I have lots of pans; that is one things my Gkids look forward to every year. Barbie was in a race car one year, one year she was a mermaid.
