We live close, very close, to the tornado damage and I can assure you that quilts will be very appreciated. The only thing left to most homes is their slab foundation. These people have lost everything!! A warm quilt crafted in love with be a constant reminder that America cares besides bringing needed warmth. Quilt on!

There was a post a few days ago about a large effort to make quilts. The request was for any size (I believe) folks are lined up down there to make tops and a group to do the quilting. I want to keep the subject current on the board so all will remember and the subject will appear if we post to it regularily

I've been looking all over the place for the location of the original post and then there was another one that listed info from her guild in that area.
I sure wished I had bookmarked it. Any help in finding it would send us all in the right direction.

I could be a contact if you need someone to collect them. We live about 3 or 4 miles from the damaged area in Elmore County, 90 miles from the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham area. We have a great response from the people in the local area to meet the immediate needs but I haven't heard about many people sending blankets or quilts. Our church sewing ministry had five baby quilts finished so we took them up to the Disaster Relief Collection Center in Eclectic, Al. My grandson's bus driver was killed in the tornado so this is very personal to us. Thanks for thinking of the tornado victims.

Original post to be found here.

I am sending four that did not make it into the Military Barracks Quilt Project simply because we ran over/had more than enough. Can not remember who the quilts were from and pray that those board members who sent them to me will be just as blessed by the quilts going on to our tornado victims.
