I was wondering, can you use panels for the QFK's? I found this really neat, and contrasty/bright material called Monsters in the Closet by Sue Marsh for RJR. The monsters are friendly looking, not at all scary. I have the panel and a border print that I thought I could use for a different quilt with a pieced center. here are pics of the fabrics, colors may be a little richer in real life. What do you think? I could cut them apart and add coordinating fabric, but it is printed to look sashed with bright colors. I just don't want to do anything wrong. Got the top pieced from the fabric they send. So am planning one from fabric I have (bought this yesterday, so I have it now 8-) ) It has such a nice hand, is cotton, but is so silky.

Panel, Could be used as border with coordinating fabric blocks as center

I don't think that would be a problem at all. They haven't said they won't take panel quilts, I think they offer the free patterns so that one could make the least expensive way. This would be darling!

    Thanks Mary Jane,

I was afraid it might be too dark (cause it has black in it), but I know that my grandson would have loved it at age 6 or 7, maybe older.

What is so great is that I got this great quality fabric at a place about 30 minutes from me called Surplus City for $3.99 a yard!

Also got these for $3.95/yard. Also nice quality.

I'm sure they would be happy with that. Their biggest concern, I think, is that the quilts are machine quilted to hold up to the heavy laundering methods. I think other than that, they are flexible. And your fabric is adorable.

I think as long as you make it close to their preferred size, and do lots of quilting on the panel and sew the binding the way they want, you can use any kind of pattern and panel as long as you think a kid would like it.
I think that fabric's cute. Many of the kids I see that people have done have fabrics with bright colors on the black backgrounds.

I think it's great! It's even very unisex which I think would appeal to them. It has to be difficult to always keep a good balance of boy and girl quilts.

I agree, as long as it is kids fabric and quilted closely enough, they will be thrilled with those :D:D:D I LOVE those fabrics!!!!
