Do you have a city park? Are they having a memorial day event in your area? My first call would be to the local veterans association, I am sure they would help. And try, if you can, to stay with the potluck. It not only keeps the cost down, but I think it keeps the atmosphere less formal.

our guild gives out QOF every Memorial Day and Veterans days. we use the local American Legion hall or VFW and it is a big deal with military songs, an explanation of the QOF orgaization, presentations and lots of hugs from the members to the veterans. Afterwards we have cookies and coffee. there are a lot of tears, smiles and love. E look forward to each holiday.
