Has anyone tried making the apple core block with Quiltsmart? I have the instructions but doesn't seem to work. My points aren't lining up the way they should. everything is cut correctly so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If anybody has a tute or better yet a video that would be great. Thanks everyone.

Are you sure your seams are scant 1/4". That is usually my problem when something comes out wrong...

I tried the Apple Core - unless you are good with curves good luck! I gave up.

The seam allowance is really irrelevant when using Quiltsmart.

What "points" are you taking about on the AppleCore?
They alternate horizontal and vertical, and the curved sections fit into each other.

Before you turned the pieces, did you make sure you didn't have excess seam allowance? After you turned them, did you smooth out the edges and make sure there are no folds in seam? I use my fingernails, but you could also use a wooden iron.

They don't alternate. They only go horizontally. The space left between them forms the other apple core.

Although, I suppose you could do it the way you're doing it if you wanted a more uniform effect. But that's not the way the product was originally intended - at least not the AppleCore pattern.

That's a perfect picture to demonstrate how the pieces nest together.

I think Mimmis57 was trying to fuse/applique them directly to a background fabric. I could see how that would be....not fun.

I'm doing mine by hand piecing.I think she's making it harder on herself.
