Default Rag quilt question

Hi,, I just made my first rag quilt with 3 layers of flannel fabric. It was meant for a baby quilt but I can't get all the "fluff" off of it and it seems to keep coming. Any suggestions? I don't want to give it as a baby gift and have that stuff go up the baby's nose. It has been washed and dried twice so far.. Thanks in advance... Annie in Nova Scotia.

i always take them outside & shake the heck out of them between cycles in the washer & a couple more times during drying- then you can take a lint roller to them too..personally i've never recommended raggy quilts for babies-
great for older kids
you can (trim)your frayed edges fairly close (like a chenille edge) that will cut down on the amount of (fluff) still fraying. some people use sweater shavers on them too-if your flannels are pilling. good luck --- i would recommend trimming the edges to about 1/4" and washing/shaking/drying/shaking again & again (if needed)

I just wet it and pop it in the dryer without any heat. Eventually I'll put up the heat.

It is for that reason and the the strings getting in their mouth that rag quilts aren't recommended for very young children and babies. Although many do make them, I'm not comfortable with it. Cuddly though for later.

Put it in a cold dryer for a few hours-------------------well, however long it takes.

I agree with the suggestions given you....They do make beautiful quilts.....whoever you give it to make sure to tell the parents to not wrap the baby in the side that is raggy.....it will stop linting up eventually.....yes shake shake shake that rag quilt and throw in the dryer eachtime...

Thank you for all your good advice. I am having second thoughts on giving it as a baby gift. However, I will keep everything in mind when I do 4 twin sized ones for my granddaughters
