Hi haven't been here for a while. Out of town. Now I'm back and doing the quilts for my twin grandsons due in 2 WEEKS! I bought 2 kits, they are off qilter, I am also obviously a lousy quilter It takes fussy cuts, etc., fortunately I am going to tie it because this puppy wouldn't lie flat if you ran over it with a steam roller. Got one top done and trying to fussy cut the second one. The fabric frayed and I have barely enuf to cut what I need. I am so stressed. I even washed the second one differently - gentle and air dried it. Still was frayed. Thanks for listening. I hate the kits but they were the only ones I found that were Baby Signs. Can you tell I'm ornerly now? Sorry.

Pam, sorry you are having such a time with these quilts. Sounds like the kits, weren't great quality, and your blaming yourself way too much.
I always get stressed if I don't have that much time, to get something done.
Many years ago, I had a counselor, and he gave me a handout sheet.
It said, when you were stressed to imagine the worst thing that could happen,...in this same situation,...to your friend.
Then imagine, you telling the friend how to deal with this problem, and apply this to your real situation.
I can't tell you, how many times, it has helped me, to go ahead, and imagine, so what if worse comes to worst? what will I do. By knowing, what my plan B would be, it helps me calm down and get to work.
Btw, you are NOT a lousy quilter! I ruffle at you saying that about my friend, LOL! hugs, qc

I can certainly relate to being upset with yourself, when it is not your bad! I have never tried a kit, but I know that I make mistakes, so I would mess it up and then have to alter it to be able to finish something. It also adds to stress to not give yourself enough time. I do that a lot! :? Take some deep breaths and use the advice to "tell your friend how to proceed." Great advice.

QC and Shemjo, thank you. I have gotten back into my good zone now. I love the idea of being my own friend. I feel better, so stressed about the babies coming and nothing I can do about it. But relax and wait and enjoy it when it happens, right? I could talk to a friend better than I can to myself and being my own friend is something I have to remember! but I have you wonderful women to help me to soldier on!!!! Tomorrow I walk in a parade which will help me lessen stress. QC I wondered where you were? Pam

I have only bought a quilt kit once. I will never do it again, but my grandson wanted this quilt soooo bad. It was a car's quilt as in the show Cars. It didn't have enough fabric, I didn't like the way it laid, but I got it done and he loved it. So don't worry. It will be great. I guess we learn by our mistakes. I hope I do anyway.

yes, you do have us  and we have you, so, guess that means you owe us one, LOL!
I have been on a little vacation of sorts. We just stayed in a cabin and swam in pool, and sat in hot tub. That hot tub was great for my fibromyalgia! oh, how I would love to have one.
nope, don't think you can do anything about these babies coming...lol. Unless you want to deliver them? not me. I can watch the shows, but don't actually want the job.
well, getting lights turned out on me, had to see how you were doing

A little update on my hissyfit the other day about my twin grandsons' quilts. Thanks to all of you I am better and I so appreciate it!!! I need to tell you a story. Met my friend today (nonquilter but gramma of twins) and told her my upcoming grandson's quilts were'nt lying flat. She asked what is that and I told her. She said, "Pam, those quilts will be peed on, pooped on, thrown up on, dragged through the mud, left in a thunderstorm outside, stolen by the dog, stuffed in the refrigerator (true) dragged through spaghetti spilled on the floor, jammed in the car door several times, run over by the stroller, and washed a thousand times and you're worried about them lying FLAT?! Just finish the flipping things. So where do you wanna go to lunch?" Both tops are now done. Will birth them over the next 2 days.

Sounds like the kit and the fabric weren't of the best quality... So don't blame yourself...

Take a deep breath, step away from the project, eat some chocolate, and come back to it later. That's what I do when something isn't right. Then my brain starts working on solutions.
