Try going to www.sewingwithnancy.com, it might be www.nancysnotions.com. I can't remember. Her rail fence pattern was my first quilt ever. Tons of pictures and diagrams, truly wonderful FREE pattern. It's under quilt patterns and it's listed as easy. I made 4 using this pattern and they went by really fast!! Though I only had 2 children then, they still went fast and the directions are set up for beginners. It was great.

Bonnie,
Here are 2 more pictres of rail fence quilts that I made. With the first one I showed you plus these 2 your sister can see how you can get different looks based on how you arrange the blocks.

Your sister has to send us a picture of it once it's done. Tell her to have fun with it.
